Bookmark Now is a collection of essays by writers in their 20s and 30s (or those who came of age in publishing in the last ten years. One is 42. One is 19) asserting and celebrating the continued relevance of reading, writing and literature in the media saturated 21st century. The contributors were the second generation to be raised by television, the first to come of age with video games in childhood and the Internet in late adolescence and yet they have staked their creative futures to the production of literature and the rickety industry that supports it. Why? What do we have to learn about the state of contemporary literature and the future of publishing from their choices?
