Blindness

blindnessI was having a late night run through Apple’s movie trailer site when I discovered that there’s a movie coming out based on one of my favorite books — José Saramago’s Blindness.

Ordinarily I would consider this horrible news, but in this case it might not be such a bad thing. The movie is directed by Fernando Meirelles, who did City of God, which remains one of my favorite movies. It stars Gael García Bernal, Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo who are all very talented. With such a talented cast and director, the film might actually do the book justice. The visual theme of the trailer even stays true to the artwork and whitewashed lettering used the first edition of the book.

Blindness comes out in September 19, 2008 — something to look forward to.
